Hello members. The March 12 meeting was held in person at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History. Thank you to Gil Lopez for providing a presentation on Incident Command System and Emergency Preparedness. The next event will be a moderated panel on Project Management tools – scheduled for Saturday, April 26 at 9am. Please look out for announcements with further details. An election for the next year’s Board of Directors will be held later in the month.
Our latest happenings:
- March 12, 2025: Incident Command System and Emergency Preparedness with Gil Lopez. Gil Lopez, an engineer by training, with specialties in the areas of audiovisual, security and information technology, is a practitioner in emergency operation centers, government and judicial projects, and various technology-enabled command and control centers. Gil presented on emergency preparedness overview; emergency management purpose and responsibilities; setting up a basic emergency operations space; and practical example of a typical space and operation.
- April 26, 2025 (Saturday): A moderated panel on Project Management Tools. 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Practitioners and experts will introduce multiple PM tools in a panel format. In-person (location to be announced). Bring your device to try out tools including MS Project, Asana, Jira, Kanban Board, Smartsheet and others. Coffee/tea and refreshments will be provided. - May 6, 2025: First Tuesday Breakfast meeting 7:00 am – 8:00 am.

Board update:
- Appointment of President-elect. The Board of Directors appointed Ben Havens-Stokes to the President-elect position for the current board year.
- Annual election of chapter Board of Directors for July 2025-June 2026.
A slate of nominees has been identified. Voting will be scheduled later in April.

A Shark Tank-style Pitch Competition on May 10, 2025. The Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (IIED), within the College of Business at Cal State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB), is inviting local professionals to participate as judges and other roles.
