Hello members. The April 26 PM Tools session was held in person at the United Way Monterey County Community Impact Center, Salinas, CA. Thank you to all who attended, and special thanks to the presenters who volunteered their time to prepare and present for this collaboration. Participants received presentations on several tools and engaged in lively discussions about how they can/should be applied in PM work. The election for the next year’s Board of Directors has started – voting period ends on May 8.
Our latest happenings:
- April 26, 2025 (Saturday): A moderated panel on Project Management Tools. Practitioners and experts discussed multiple PM tools: MS Project, Asana, Jira, Kanban Board, Smartsheet. Participating members earned 3 PDUs. A follow-on session on AI tools is planned.
- May 15, 2025 (Thursday): Branding your PM Career! Change your narrative… to power a professional pivot! 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. In-person meeting. Pacific Grove Natural History Museum. 165 Central Ave., Pacific Grove, CA 93950. You CAN make a major career change, and the POWER is in YOUR HANDS. The secret is in CAREER BRANDING, which is how you present yourself and tell your career story. Learn what you need to know to survive and thrive in the ever changing-world of project management from Marie Spark, a project management thought leader and mentor to adult learners and professionals in transition. The PMI San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (SFBAC) Mentorship Program provides a platform for project professional seeking mentorship in project management leadership. It is structured in a 10-week cohort format where Mentees are mentored by a senior experienced Mentor. Cohort 2 application period is open through May 18, 2025. - PMBOK® Guide – 8th Edition Public Review Open: The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) BSR-8 Public Review of the PMBOK® Guide – Eighth Edition is now open until June 2, 2025. - New Sustainability Resources: PMI and Green Project Management (GPM) have launched a joint venture to provide access to tools, free resources, and certifications. PMI will integrate GPM’s sustainability-driven certifications, frameworks, and tools — including the GPM® P5 Standard for Sustainability in Project Management and the Sustainability Competence Standard — into its learning ecosystem and global community platforms.
- PMI North America Leadership Institute Meeting 2025: November 9-12, 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona, and the Global Summit 2025 November 12-15. The chapter will send up to two officers to these events.
The Board of Directors plans and executes member activities; facilitates learning, networking and engagement; and connects you with member benefits. We meet monthly on first Wednesdays. Please see position descriptions in the Members Only page on the chapter website. Any PMI Monterey Bay Chapter member can serve on the board.
