Hello members. We hope you are enjoying the Spring season. In February, members met at a new venue, Other Brother Beer on Broadway Avenue in Seaside. In March, members joined an exclusive tour of Food Bank for Monterey County, a new facility that is still expanding to provide even more services to the community.

 

Our latest happenings:

  • March 21, 2024: Monthly chapter member meeting was held at Food Bank for Monterey County at 353 W. Rossi Street, Salinas, CA 93901. Executive Director Melissa Kendrick provided a tour of the facility which included a large warehouse and cold storage; community meeting room with a kitchen; executive meeting room, office spaces, and a nursery room for employees; and a farm out back. We were shown a fleet of delivery trucks, a “fresh produce market” truck, and a food truck that feed the community free at variety of locations every day. We were offered healthy and culturally appropriate chicken posole soup which was delicious. This Food Bank provides unique services such as diapers for moms and breast cancer patient food assistance. The organization provides ample opportunities for volunteering for individuals and groups. They are presently working to realize an outdoor kitchen and meeting space that would connect the garden to the dining experience, a place for learning about food and health, and for community interaction. https://foodbankformontereycounty.org/
  • April 18, 2024: Monthly chapter member meeting. We will return to Dust Bowl Brewing Company, Monterey Tap Depot at 290 Figueroa St, Monterey, CA 93940. 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Please look for a PMI Monterey Bay banner. Free to members and non-members.

Monthly member meetings are held on third Thursdays in various formats incl. online presentation, in-person professional meeting, and social meet-up.

  • May 7, 2024: First Tuesday Breakfast meeting at Marina Village Restaurant, 215 Reservation Road, Marina, CA 93933. 7:00 am – 8:00 am.
    The first 10 people to RSVP will receive a free breakfast and you can also earn 1 PDU for attending! Register via https://www.meetup.com/PMI-MontereyBay. Free to members and non-members.
  • May 16, 2024: Monthly chapter member meeting. 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. at Community Shared Space in The Barnyard, Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA 93923. Overcoming Overwhelm through the 6-Step B.R.E.A.T.H. Process for Inner Peace. An evening with Sam Kabert, author of several books on the topic of integrating mental health in workplace culture.   • May 16-18, 2024: PMI Region 1 & 7 Regional Leadership Meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico https://pmiregion1and7.org/agenda. Recommended to prospective board members for the upcoming board year. (PMI travel grant is not available for this event.)
  • September 18-21, 2024: PMI Global Summit and Leadership Institute Meeting in Los Angeles, California https://pmiglobalsummit.gcs-web.com/. AI will be prominently presented in this event. PMI travel grant will be available for chapter board members to attend.
